We are looking to recruit Hospital Volunteers to assist with Major Trauma patients. These patients may be required to have a long stay while waiting for rehabilitation services or transfers to specialist hospitals.
As a volunteer you will not be directly involved in patient care, instead you will be there to help provide extra support to patients, just as friends or family members might do i.e. go to the hospital shop and get them a newspaper or sit with them to provide some company.
One important part of the role will be to provide the patient with a Trauma Questionnaire to regarding the quality of the healthcare being provided. The patient may require your guidance/support when completing the questionnaire.
We are looking for volunteers from all walks of life, to represent the diversity of the communities that we serve. We are looking for individuals who will be dedicated to making the hospital a little friendlier and more comfortable for everyone.
We are looking for those with the ability to be empathic, yet professional whilst maintaining patient confidentiality.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
