PRINCIPAL PHARMACY TECHNICIAN – BAND 7

Are you a motivated, experienced registered pharmacy technician with a vision and passion for medicines optimisation, staff and service development and service improvement?
Our award winning Pharmacy department has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Technician to directly support and further develop our Medicines Management Team, medicines optimisation agenda and decentralised ward pharmacy service.
As an accredited Medicines Management Technician you will participate in system wide medicines optimisation and transformation of pharmacy practice to improve the quality and efficiency of services for the public.
Working closely with the Clinical Ward Team and wider Pharmacy Team you will maximise patient flow and patient safety. You will provide expert knowledge of medicines optimisation processes and practices and have established team management experience. You will be able to co-ordinate and prioritise work flow and engage your team in delivering the highest standards and efficiency. In your role as an experienced Accredited Checking Technician you will participate in checking rotas within the dispensary and at ward level, and act as a role model to all staff. You will also support staff training and education being responsible for training new members of staff and continued coaching as well as supporting the Department with Education and Training. An in depth knowledge of developing and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures, competency frameworks and a knowledge of the national agenda and opportunities for service improvement is essential.
You are required to have relevant experience and have excellent training, prioritisation, time management and interpersonal skills. Candidates who fail to supply a detailed supporting statement specifying how their career experience to date matches the person specification supplied with this advert will not be invited for interview.
The purpose-built Pharmacy provides a pharmacy service to Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and a number of external Organisations under the terms of a Wholesale Dealers Authorisation. The dispensary benefits from an ARX robot installation, a Prescription Tracking System and the Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration is in use in the majority of the hospital.
We are an innovative forward thinking department entering an exciting new phase. A series of in-house developments are underway, giving the opportunity for successful candidates to be involved in dynamic projects which offer professional progression.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
